IV Nutrition Therapy

IV therapy refers to an infusion of a liquid solution containing nutrients, vitamins, minerals and other ingredients via a cannula inserted into a vein. The vitamins and nutrients are absorbed quickly and directly via the bloodstream, as they bypass absorption by the digestive system. This ensures the delivery of a higher concentration of nutrients to the cells. Infused products are not affected by stomach or intestinal absorption problems, therefore delivering higher amounts of nutrients into the cells. Higher doses of nutrients can be given than what is possible by mouth, without intestinal irritation.

IV vitamin infusions were originally formulated and administered by Dr John Myers in the 1950s to help with a range of chronic medical conditions. Following his death, patients sought out alternative micronutrient treatments, leading to the later development of what is now known as the modified Myers Cocktail. Variations of IV nutritional therapies have since been developed, and have increased in popularity amongst complementary and alternative medicine clinics for well-being, nutritional and aesthetic purposes.

Prior to any infusion being administered, a compulsory initial consultation is required to discuss health history, any concerns that you would like addressed, suitability for IV nutrition therapy, risks associated with this therapy and the cost involved.
